Of the “black sheep”On France Bleu on Wednesday July 3, Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally (RN), reacts to the profile of certain candidates of his party in the second round of the legislative elections. “I don’t have a trembling hand, and indeed, I wanted to withdraw the investiture from people I didn’t know about,” says the aspiring Prime Minister this Wednesday on France Bleu. The day before, Ludivine Daoudi, qualified for the second round in the first constituency of Calvados, was forced to withdraw after a photo of her wearing a Luftwaffe non-commissioned officer’s cap with a swastika emerged from her Facebook account. One example among others.

“What must be judged is the reaction of the political party. I have never had any tolerance for statements that I consider to be contrary to my convictions and especially to the political line that I defend.”says Jordan Bardella. In essence, he acknowledges that the dissolution took the far-right party by surprise. “In 48 hours, we had to invest 577 candidates throughout France,” one per constituency. However, he assures that “99.9% of them are personalities that we know, respectable, respected”. Among the candidates “black sheep”there is notably Annie Bell. Qualified for the second round in the third constituency of Mayenne, she was convicted of hostage-taking.

The MEP also responds to the trial of amateurism that is being made to the RN. At least 21 of its candidates have cancelled or refused to debate in the second round on the airwaves of France Bleu. For him, ““It’s not because you’re not a media beast who does ten TV shows a day that you’re a bad person, or that you’re not sincere in your beliefs.” “Sometimes, I do interviews with journalists who aren’t very comfortable. That doesn’t mean that the journalist isn’t competent in his or her profession,” he adds.
