Joni Mitchell’s songs are returning to Spotify more than two years after the songwriter removed them from the platform in protest of other content available on the popular streaming platform.
The singer herself has not released an official statement announcing the return of her work to Spotify, but a search of her content on the app reveals that her entire discography is available to listen to.
Joni Mitchell removed her music from Spotify in January 2022 in solidarity with fellow Canadian music icon Neil Young, who removed her music in protest of the company’s decision to give the host a controversial podcast Joe Rogan an exclusive platform.
Neil Young had issued an ultimatum to Spotify over concerns that Mr. Rogan was spreading misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine on his show.
The singer, however, announced earlier this month that he would return to Spotify, saying on his website that the same “misinformation podcast” was now featured on various streaming platforms and that he couldn’t to leave.
Joe Rogan signed a new deal with Spotify in February, including Wall Street Journal estimates it to be worth up to $250 million over several years.
