On the night of October 28 to 29, 2017, Jonathann Daval killed his wife Alexia. A murder he confessed to several months after the fact, he was then sentenced to 25 years in prison at the end of his trial. The parents of the victim published a book last year on this drama which destroyed their family, Alexia, our daughter. It is the turn of the culprit’s mother to reveal her experience of this news item which hit the headlines.
Martine Henry is releasing a book on November 17 entitled Me, mum of Jonathann published by Michalon. On this occasion, she was invited to the show seven to eight this Sunday, November 13 to talk more in detail about this delicate work, answering questions from Audrey Crespo-Mara. The journalist questions this woman frankly and she responds with a frank gaze and without shirking the most complex questions. Through her book, she wants to show things from another point of view, her own, that of the mother of a criminal.
During this interview, Martine Henry assumes her support for her child whom she goes to see very regularly in the visiting room. If she regrets not having realized and accepted more quickly the idea that her son has committed a terrible crime, she does not feel responsible for her act and does not want to be ashamed of being his mother. In front of the cameras, she also paints a sometimes unflattering portrait of her late daughter-in-law, explaining that she was put away from the couple by the latter.
Then, Marine Henry is confronted with information that made a lot of noise a few weeks ago and was revealed by BFMTV: the homosexual relationship of Jonathann Daval in prison. His mother is categorical on the subject, she does not believe it: “Not even, because that’s gossip. It was I who taught him more! Because I saw it on TV before going to see it. It shocked me, I said to myself: ‘but what are they talking about? It is not possible.’ (…) He said to me: ‘It’s nonsense.’ (…) No no no, I’m not like that’.” She totally refutes the thesis of a repressed homosexuality: “It’s absurd ! It was well said that he had sex with Alexia’s dad. You believe it, do you ?“
