Joliette | A 16-year-old teenager found lifeless in the L’Assomption River

(Joliette) A 16-year-old teenager was found lifeless in the L’Assomption River in Joliette.



According to initial information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the young man jumped into the river around 2:30 p.m., near the CLSC de Joliette, located on Boulevard de la Base-de-Roc, in the Lanaudière region.

In the afternoon, police officers from the SQ of the MRC of Joliette and the city’s firefighters undertook searches along the banks and the river, but without success, said SQ spokesperson Ève Brochu -Joubert.

Finally, in the evening, SQ divers recovered the teenager’s body and he was transported to the hospital center where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses were also met by investigators.
