We still don’t know if Joker: Folie à deux will be a musical comedy – or drama – but its first trailer confirms that music will be an integral part of the sequel Jokerreleased in 2019.
To the rhythm of What The World Needs Now Is Love in a crescendo, we witness the meeting between Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix, who reprises his role) and Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga) at Arkham Asylum.
Unlike her version in the comics, the latter is likely a patient and not a psychologist who falls in love with the Joker. She nevertheless seems to admire Arthur for his actions depicted at the end of the first film and encourages him to escape the institution.
Unsurprisingly, the duo will wreak havoc in Gotham.
Todd Phillips (War Dogsthe trilogy The Hangover) is back behind the camera and once again writing the screenplay with Scott Silver.
Joker: Folie à deux will be on display on October 4.
