Kwizera, 23, was a first-round pick — 15and in total — of the Montreal club during the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.

A native of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he played 13 games as a starter in 2021 with Utah Valley University, registering three goals and eight assists. In 2020, he played seven games as a starter, earning one goal and two assists for the Wolverines.

Kwizera attended the last first-team training camp in Florida last January. He had played the four preseason games against New York City FC, Inter Miami CF, Philadelphia Union and Miami FC.

“Jojea had shown us great things during the preparation and we had made our decision for some time, but we were waiting for certain documents at the level of his immigration, explained sports director Olivier Renard.

“We were also happy with our other selection from the last draft during training camp, but Ivy (Brisma) suffered a serious knee injury during the last preseason game. We officially welcome Jojea. We hope that he will continue his progress within our organization. »
