Two big names in contemporary music, John Zorn and Fred Frith, will be back in Quebec for the 39e edition of the Victoriaville Current Music Festival (FIMAV), which will take place from May 15 to 21.
Both have been staples of this quirky event for almost four decades. The American saxophonist Zorn will be in his 13e participation in the event, he will perform in trio and quarterr.
British guitarist Fred Frith will be in his 15the participation, his first since 2014, he who had participated in the very first edition in 1983.
Artists from around twenty countries will also be taking part, including the Franco-Japanese duo Poil Udea/Ikue Mori, the guitarist from Bhutan Tashi Dorji and the 82-year-old indie drummer Guy Thouin.
A total of two World Premieres and seven North American Premieres. Note that the big shows will no longer take place at the Colisée des Bois-Francs, the end of an era for the festival.
