The Fantasia International Film Festival will highlight the career of Hong Kong filmmaker John Woo by presenting him with the honorary career award at the event, which will be back in theaters this year, from July 14 to August 3.

Woo, who left his mark on action cinema by developing his own aesthetics and his own narrative codes. After a series of martial arts films and a few comedies in the 1970s and 1980s, Woo signed films like Hard Target, Front/Off, Mission: Impossible II, Red Cliff I & II and The Crossing I & II. He is currently completing silent nighthis return to American cinema.
Fantasia also unveiled the first titles in its programming, in particular by inaugurating the new Northern Shadows section, devoted to Canadian genre cinema. Japanese filmmaker Satoshi Miki will also be in the selection with two titles, Convenience Storypresented as a world premiere, What To Do With The Dead Kaiju?, a Canadian first. Takeshi Miike, another great Fantasia regular, will present a North American premiere The Mole Song: FinalwhileIncredible but truethe latest production by Quentin Dupieux presented at the Berlinale in 2022 and starring Alain Chabat, Léa Drucker, Benoît Magimel and Anaïs Demoustier will also be presented for the first time on screens in North America.
A second wave of Fantasia 2022 titles will be announced in June, with the full lineup to be unveiled in late June. Tickets will go on sale shortly thereafter.
