The National Assembly supported his nomination on Wednesday. The deputies of the CAQ, the PLQ, the QS and the PQ voted in favor of her accession to the position of director general, thus supporting the motion tabled by Premier François Legault. Independent MNAs Guy Ouellette and Sylvain Roy, like Conservative Claire Samson, voted against.

As required by law, the appointment of the boss of the SQ must be supported by at least two-thirds of the deputies.

Mme Beausoleil was the government’s first choice from a short list of candidates submitted by a selection committee.

His appointment was due to take place last fall, but was delayed as the government barred Mme Samson discussions between elected officials, contrary to the provisions of the law on the consultation process. She had won her battle, which led to the postponement of the nomination in February.
