JoeyStarr tells how he found his mother whom he thought was dead!

In full promotion of his book “Mon guide Bistronomik”, published by Telemaque, the former member of “NTM” is currently touring the media. The opportunity to defend this beautiful illustrated book full of beautiful addresses. As a good epicurean, JoeyStarr reveals his secret corners for shopping but also 100 unmissable recipes! Helped in this by good friends including some big names in the kitchen. It is in this context that this Saturday, January 7, the gourmet singer was the guest of the program “There is not only one life in life” presented by Isabelle Morizet on Europe 1. After presenting his last work for long minutes, JoeyStarr agreed to talk about his childhood. In particular, on the very difficult period linked to the separation of his parents. The little Didier Morville has indeed been torn from his mother by his father. A man whose verbal abuse he had already explained. “I must have been between 5 and 7 years old”, he remembers in front of the former singer. Worse, his father made him believe at the time that his mother was “dead”. “It was only said once, and Bam!, he explains. “He used to only say things once.”

How can we live with this on our shoulders?

A certain trauma for this child who will find in rap a way of expressing his rage later. But one day when he was going to go on stage, at the age of 18, a girl comes to him backstage: “A woman is in tears, she claims to be your mother”. Incredulous, JoeyStarr ends up seeing her, supported by his little brother: “We don’t reinvent ourselves on this kind of thing in fact. I found my mother but, I realize that I don’t know what it is. . It’s complicated because my mother is still a real character, even at 55 she talks to me as if I were 16!” he admits, trying to smile at this personal tragedy. Very moved, he also explains that every October 27, on his birthday, his mother tried to secretly give him a gift in Saint-Denis, the city where he lived. But surprised by her father, the latter was severely beaten… and never dared to come see her child again. Looking back, the singer concludes: “With the distance, I say to myself: ‘how can we live with that on our shoulders? To have lied to a kid?’”.Filled with bitterness towards his father…
