Joe Biden’s “routine” health check-up on the eve of his 79th birthday

WASHINGTON | US President Joe Biden goes to the hospital for a “routine” inspection Friday, the day before his 79th birthday, his spokesperson said.

“This morning the President is going to Walter Reed Medical Center for his annual routine checkup. We will provide more details after his arrival at Walter Reed, ”near the capital Washington, said the spokeswoman for the US executive, Jen Psaki.

Mr. Biden turns 79 on Saturday. The Democrat had been declared “in good health” and “vigorous” by his doctor at the end of 2019, when he was a candidate for the Democratic primary.

The US president, who does not smoke or drink, is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and received his third dose at the end of September.

He is the oldest president in U.S. history and has made it public that he plans to run for his own succession in 2024, but his age is fueling speculation he might step down.
