Joe Biden was ‘pushed out’ by Democrats, Donald Trump says

(Washington) Several Democratic figures “pushed out” Joe Biden, Donald Trump said on Thursday, denouncing the “brutal” attitude of the opposing party, the day after the president’s speech on his withdrawal.

“They pushed him out, between Pelosi, Obama and others,” the Republican candidate said during a morning interview on Fox News, by telephone.

The behind-the-scenes role of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama in Joe Biden’s withdrawal has been widely discussed in the American press for several days.

“I watched them on TV, they were so nice, ‘Oh yeah, we love Joe, we love Joe.’ But behind the scenes, I know full well they were brutal” to him, he said.

On Wednesday evening, Joe Biden explained to his compatriots, in a televised address imbued with gravity, that he had made the shock decision to give up running for a second term in order to “save democracy” and make way for “younger voices”.

Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race in a letter to Americans on Sunday, after a failed debate at the end of June and several weeks of calls from Democrats, some publicly and others privately, for him to step down, believing he was incapable of beating the Republican in the November election.

“They tried to stage a coup,” Donald Trump said again.

Vice President Kamala Harris, now almost certain to be the Democratic nominee, “is worse” than Joe Biden, he also said on the conservatives’ favorite channel.

A speech “barely understandable, and so bad,” Donald Trump immediately judged on his social network Truth.
