Joe Biden was questioned as part of the investigation into confidential documents found in his former office as well as in his family home, the White House announced Monday, October 9. The interrogation, described as “voluntary”took place on Sunday. “The president and the White House are cooperating” with the investigation, led by a special prosecutor, said the office of the American head of state.

At the end of 2022, a series of confidential documents, the exact number and content of which remain unknown, were found in an office occupied by Joe Biden in a Washington think tank, as well as in his house in Wilmington (Delaware). These documents date from the period when the Democrat was vice-president, between 2009 and 2017, and from his mandates in the Senate, where he served for around thirty years and was very involved in foreign policy.

These discoveries have plunged the White House into embarrassment because they evoke, despite numerous differences, the affair of official archives taken in large numbers to Florida by former Republican President Donald Trump. The law in the United States requires presidents and vice presidents to transfer all of their official documents, communications, and other notes to the National Archives.
