“Welcome to the White House, Commander,” read the caption of a snapshot posted on the President’s official Twitter account showing a young dog, which appears to be a German Shepherd, running, a bullet in the head. mouth.
A video from the same account introduces the public to the “new kid on the block in the Biden family.”
We see the dog advancing towards the president – also “Commander in chief”, commander-in-chief of the armed forces – who greets him with “Hey, mate”.
Joe Biden is also filmed throwing a ball or entering the White House with the puppy on a leash, with his wife Jill.
The US president suffers from a very low trust score and faces both political blockages and a resurgence of COVID-19.
His services did not immediately give details of this new companion, whose arrival will certainly trigger a strong curiosity in a country where pets are particularly loved and pampered.
Joe and Jill Biden had moved into the White House with two dogs, two German Shepherds.
They announced last June on Twitter the death of the oldest, Champ, at 13.
The other dog, Major, is the first presidential animal to pass through a shelter.
Major, who bit two White House employees a few weeks apart, was sent nearby to Delaware, the Biden family home, to take dressage lessons, among other places.
There was talk in the spring that a cat would join the presidential couple at the White House, but the project has not yet materialized.
