President Joe Biden on Friday confirmed his decision to appoint Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, 51, to the United States Supreme Court, the first black female magistrate to serve on the nation’s highest judicial institution.
“She is one of our nation’s brightest legal minds,” tweeted Mr. Biden, who will formally introduce the magistrate at a ceremony at the White House on Friday afternoon. Ms. Jackson will have to be confirmed by the Senate to join the body, currently with a conservative majority, which decides the important societal debates in the United States.
