The indignant reactions multiply. US President Joe Biden, who met with Mohammed Bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, said “the blood” of the next victim of the crown prince on the hands, tweeted Friday July 15 the fiancée of Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist murdered in 2018.

Imagining what her companion would have tweeted, Hatice Cengiz wrote, addressing the tenant of the White House: “Is this your way of holding accountable those responsible for my murder? The blood of MBS’s next victim [surnom de Mohammed Ben Salmane] is on your hands.”

Jamal Khashoggi, a columnist for the Washington Post critical of Saudi power, was killed and dismembered on October 2, 2018 at the premises of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul when he came to collect the papers necessary for his marriage to his Turkish fiancée. After his assassination, Joe Biden promised to reduce the Gulf monarchy to the rank of “pariah” and to declassify a CIA report concluding that the crown prince had “validated” this murder.

The president, however, arrived at the royal palace in Jeddah on Friday, where he greeted Mohammed bin Salman with a “check” with his fist, a form of greeting widespread since the Covid-19. “The first ‘check’ between President Biden and Mohammad bin Salman was worse than a handshake – it was shameful”said Fred Ryan, managing editor of the washington post.

For his part, President Joe Biden claims to have warned the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia of a “answer” on his part in the event of a new attack on dissidents. “I just made it clear that if something like this happens again, they will have this answer and much more”he told reporters.
