This is not going to fix Joe Biden’s reputation as a blunderer. While delivering a speech on Friday, July 8, in favor of the right to abortion, the American president was obviously a little too captivated by the teleprompter on which his text scrolled.

Joe Biden quoted a passage from the Supreme Court’s decision, which on June 24 shattered the case law which, since 1973, had protected the right to abortion throughout the United States. Then read aloud the instructions “repeat sentence” (“repeat the line”), before actually repeating the quote he had just spoken.

The sequence caused many jokes on social networks. To calm the controversy, the American presidency teams ensured that Joe Biden actually said the phrase “let me repeat the line” (“allow me to insist”Where “I repeat”). The words “let me” are inaudible in the video, but have been added to the transcript of the speech in question, published by the White House.
