“We are fighting a battle for the very soul of America,” Joe Biden shouted. The American president delivered a vibrant speech at the podium of the Democratic convention, which is being held until Thursday in Chicago (Illinois). After receiving a long ovation from the party’s supporters, Joe Biden, 81, passed the torch to Kamala Harris, who could not hold back her tears during this speech.

The man who was still the candidate of the Democratic camp a month ago has since withdrawn from the presidential race, in favor of his vice-president. She thanked him for it, during a quick intervention at the podium before handing over the lectern to him: “we are eternally grateful” towards this “amazing” president, she said. The president’s speech then took on the tone of a farewell, even though Joe Biden has promised to be the “best volunteer”” from the Kamala Harris campaign, calling for the election of this “prosecutor” facing Donald Trump, described as “repeat offender” and of “loser”.

Unsuccessful candidate facing the businessman, Hillary Clinton then took the floor, before the podium of the Democratic convention welcomed Barack and Michelle Obama. On Wednesday, Kamala Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, will unfold their program, then, on Thursday, Kamala Harris must officially accept to become the Democratic Party’s candidate for the November 5 election.
