Humanitarian aid to Gaza: Joe Biden announces the construction of a floating port

US President Joe Biden has ordered his army to build a floating port off the coast of Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. Faced with the urgency of the situation, the question of the time required to implement this system is crucial.
On the morning of Friday March 8, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, visited the port of Larnaca (Cyprus), and announced a maritime corridor to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. “We are very close to the opening of this corridor, which should take place this Sunday,” she said. Boats which, from Cyprus, will travel 370 km to reach the port of Gaza. They should deliver 300,000 meals initially.
How to transship loads to the beach?
The plan announced by the Americans on Thursday is more ambitious. The army will build a temporary port off the coast of Gaza. It could look like a huge platform for docking large boats and unloading containers. It will make it possible to recover much more volume coming from Cyprus, but the loads still need to be transshipped to the beach. There are two options: smaller boats going back and forth, or the Americans building a bridge. The IDF will be authorized to control shipments leaving Cyprus to prevent, says the Israeli army, weapons from transiting to Gaza.
