“Let’s finish the job.” In a message accompanied by a video posted on social networks, US President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday April 25 that he is “candidate for re-election” in 2024. The former vice-president of Barack Obama, who will be 81 in the year of the presidential election, is therefore seeking a second term. The main handicap of the Democrat, whose popularity rating remains poor, is therefore his age. Never before had the Americans elected such an old president, nor had a candidate asked them to leave him the keys of the White House until he was 86 years old.
This will be Joe Biden’s fourth campaign for a presidential election: he had indeed gave up in 1988 and 2008, during the Democratic primaries, before winning the party’s nomination and the presidential election in 2020. According to New York Timesthe next step will be to hire his campaign team.
“Biden is so out of touch with reality that he thinks he deserves four more years in office when all he does is create crises”denounced the leader of the Republican Party, Ronna McDaniel.
Every generation has a moment when they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their freedom fundamentals. I believe this is ours.
That’s why I’m running for re-election as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job. https://t.co/V9Mzpw8Sqy pic.twitter.com/Y4NXR6B8ly
