Joe Biden and a dozen other leaders urge Hamas to accept ceasefire deal with Israel

Joe Biden and sixteen other leaders, mainly from Europe and Latin America, on Thursday, June 6, urged Hamas to accept the ceasefire agreement with Israel in the Gaza Strip, which is currently under discussion. “It is time for this war to end and this agreement is a necessary starting point”, the White House said in a statement. The leaders of France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia are also among the countries calling for a ceasefire.

“At this decisive moment, we call on the leaders of Israel as well as Hamas to make all final compromises necessary to conclude this agreement”, we can also read in the press release. This ceasefire agreement, presented by Joe Biden on Friday, proposes to end the war in the Palestinian enclave with the withdrawal of the Israeli army, the release of hostages still held in the Gaza Strip but also the reconstruction of the enclave.
