Jim Harbaugh at the helm of the Chargers

Football’s worst-kept secret is finally out: Jim Harbaugh will become the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Mastermind of the University of Michigan Wolverines since 2015, Harbaugh came full circle in January with a national title.

Led by quarterback JJ McCarthy and an exceptionally efficient defense, Michigan ended a 27-year drought by winning 34-13 against Washington in the national championship final. And the head coach was largely responsible for this conquest. It was only a matter of time before he returned to the NFL.

The 60-year-old will therefore make a return to the NFL after a decade of absence. From 2011 to 2014, he was the head coach of the 49ers from San Francisco. He even participated in the Super Bowl with the Californian team during the 2012 season, but lost to the Baltimore Ravens and his brother John.

Thanks to his offensive and defensive genius, Harbaugh seemed to be the perfect candidate to revive the Chargers.

Despite a roster loaded with talent, the Chargers missed the playoffs this season finishing with a 5-12 record, in the basement of their division.

Himself a former quarterback who played for the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers, Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers, Harbaugh will attempt to revive the quarterback Justin Herbert.

Harbaugh won head coach of the year in 2011.
