(New York) Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk was suspended for two games on Monday following a knee-to-knee collision with Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin.
This is what the Department of Player Safety of the National Hockey League said on Monday.
The incident occurred in the third period of Sunday’s game, which the Jets won 6-3.
Earlier today, Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds was fined US $ 2,250 for a double check against Jets forward Jansen Harkins, also Sunday.

The fine of $ 2,250 is the highest permitted under the collective agreement.
In addition, his teammate Jason Spezza will obviously be suspended for the knee kick he served Pionk in that same game.
