(Winnipeg) The Winnipeg Jets have confirmed the hiring of Rick Bowness as head coach.

Bowness, 67, has spent most of the past three seasons managing the Dallas Stars.
He led them to the Stanley Cup final series in the bubble in Edmonton in 2020, where the Stars lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Texas team lost their flag to the Calgary Flames in overtime in Game 7 of the Western Conference’s first round series this season.
Bowness, whose contract expired as a result of the disappointment, said he chose to leave the Stars to “allow the organization to move in a new direction, to be led by a new coach- chief “.
The Stars signed Pete DeBoer last month.
Bowness began his NHL coaching career with the Jets, which he coached for 28 games by the end of the 1988-89 season.
Additionally, the former right-winger had finished his NHL hockey career with the Jets in 1982.
Dave Lowry served as interim head coach last season following the resignation of current Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice in December.
