(Winnipeg) Blake Wheeler scored the game-changing goal late in the second period as the Winnipeg Jets inflicted a ninth straight loss on the Arizona Coyotes, winning 2-1 on Sunday.
Pierre-Luc Dubois also hit the target for the Jets, who have won their last three games. The Jets are 8-1-0 in their last nine outings.
Connor Hellebuyck has made 20 saves in net for the Jets, who have also won their last five home games.
Clayton Keller provided the answer for the Coyotes, who lost 2-1 to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
Karel Vejmelka stopped 22 shots in net for the Coyotes, who have lost nine straight games in regulation for the first time since October and November 2021. The Coyotes have also lost their last 13 road games (0-11 -2).
Dubois opened the scoring 37 seconds into the second period, on a power play. He deflected a Josh Morrissey shot into the goal for his 20e goal of the season.
Keller tied the game at 11:02 of the second period, on only the Coyotes’ fifth shot in the game.
Wheeler put the Jets back in front with 3:15 left in the second period. He completed a passing game started by Cole Perfetti and Mark Scheifele.
