Johnny Depp and Maïwenn on the Croisette for an awaited film, the sixth long-length film by the 46-year-old French actress and director. In Jeanne du Barry, she plays the heroine, in a film dedicated to the life, rise and fall of the favorite of King Louis XV. Also in the cast Benjamin Lavernhe, Melvil Poupaud, Pierre Richard, Pascal Greggory and India Hair.

Maïwenn is a regular at Cannes and in 2011 won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, for her first selection in competition, for polishes. Four years later, she returned to the official selection with My kingwhich allowed Emmanuelle Bercot to win the Best Actress Award.

The film will also mark the big return to the screen of Johnny Depp, after the highly publicized legal soap opera which pitted him against his former wife Amber Heard, against a backdrop of accusations of domestic violence and then mutual accusations of defamation.
