Jean Reno speaks about his divorce

On display in Retirement home 2by Claude Zidi Jr, with Kev Adams, Amanda Lear, and Chantal Ladesou, Jean Reno returns to our screens on February 14, 2024. And this Sunday, February 11, 2024, he spoke about another great success in his filmography, to Laurent Delahousse, on the set of 8:30 p.m., Sunday. A success that could have cost him dearly.

After The Big Blue, I lost my footing a little

This is his interpretation of Enzo Molinari, in “Le grand bleu”, Luc Besson’s masterpiece, released in 1988. At the time, the French actor had not yet filmed “Les Visitors”, nor “Leon” and this film will be his first major role in the cinema, making him an international star. Huge pressure for someone who has also not been nominated for any award during his career.

The following year, he was in the running for the César for Best Supporting Actor. And he doesn’t live well with his notoriety. To the host of France 2, he declared: “I didn’t work for eighteen months, I was disoriented, I got divorced. […] I was in a cloud, somewhere else. I didn’t give a damn about anything! I didn’t have any money, but I was traveling.”

He separates from Geneviève, the mother of his two children Sandra and Michaël and then experiences a real “derivative“. He also notes, in complete frankness: “After The Big Blue, I lost my bearings a little, lost my taste. [C’est un tourbillon] that carries you away but I have not harmed my body nor my mind.”

A turbulent family life

Fortunately, his close entourage “back on the right path“. After this crisis, Jean Reno married a second time, to Nathalie Dyszkiewicz, with whom he also had two children, Tom (born in 1996) and Serena (born in 1998). For his third marriage, to Zofia Borucka, with whom it is still, the star will also have two last children: Cielo (born in 2009) and Dean (born in 2011).
