“Don’t make cinema die”

In full promotion of the feature film by Claude Zidi Jr, he recently gave a long interview to our colleagues at Ciné Télé Revue. The opportunity for Christian Clavier’s sidekick to discuss his television projects, his return to cinemas and the crisis of cinema in theaters. “I had already made a series for TF1 a very long time ago, called ‘Jo’, and which worked very well. I don’t say to myself ‘well, it’s time to make television’ , no, not at all. It’s just the evolution of the profession, Covid, drop in production, etc. But I want to say one thing: go to the cinema! Don’t make cinema die! Don’t make the movie theaters shut down. Go with a girl, with a guy… you can flirt quietly in the dark, we can fiddle “, he confided.

Despite his concerns about the future of cinema, Jean Reno does not cast stones at video-on-demand services. I watch Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu or Disney when there are things to see. I am a consumer like everyone else, no more, no less. I watch a little bit of everything. The Beatles documentary, ‘Get Back’, on Disney +, was quite exceptional in fact. I recommend it to everyone”he added before tackling a completely different subject: retirement.
