Jean-Pierre Pernaut suffering from lung cancer: how Nathalie Marquay announced it to their children

The Pernauts are a close-knit family, who have had to face several tragedies: the leukemia of Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut, prostate cancer and more recently the lung tumor of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. On the set of Do not touch My TV this November 22, Miss France 1987 evoked the disease which must face, again, her husband. “It happened in July, he had bronchitis and I urged him to have an exam. We found out it was a tumor. He had an operation, everything went well but in September, the other lung was attacked. It was a little bigger and we cannot operate again. We are with him and as they say, ‘never 2 without 3’ ‘, confided the mother of the family.

Used to dealing with such complex and heavy illnesses in her entourage, Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut had no trouble bringing up the subject with her children, Lou and Tom, aged 18 and 17. “I have always warned my children because I do not want to lie to them and it is not worth having lies within the family. To fight this disease, it is good to say it , to be honest, we have something else to think about “, said one who battled leukemia years ago.

“The children took it well, they trust me. I tell them everything. We won against the prostate and against the first lung, I do not see why we should not win this time again. And then the cancer does not want to. not say death “, said the former columnist of TPMP.

Despite everything, Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut wants to be positive and confident. As for Jean-Pierre Pernaut, he would have “a morale of steel” according to his wife’s words. The 71-year-old retired journalist, who is undergoing radiotherapy treatment, is even – as usual – untenable. “He is happy to work on the right, on the left … He has a character of hell, a morale of steel. He is doing well”, confided Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut.
