Jean-Pierre Pernaut and the results of his radiotherapy: he made an unexpected decision

When Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut announced that Jean-Pierre Pernaut was fighting against lung cancer detected this summer, the news worried many fans. Despite the great fatigue he feels because of his treatment, the septuagenarian has gone through Do not touch My TV on December 9, to give his news and “clear the air”.

Very close to Cyril Hanouna and his team, Julia, Olivier, Lou and Tom’s dad was very reassuring about his state of health and showed a big smile. “We were supposed to reveal my cancer tonight with the broadcast of the documentary Jean-Pierre Pernaut: the life after but there were leaks. I didn’t want to do it too early because I was still on treatment. It takes 6 weeks for it to grill, it’s like a barbecue“, said the journalist with humor.

Nathalie, my beloved witch, often told me that I had to take care of my heart … I smoked two packs a day for 40 years. I was very stupid! But I quit smoking all at once, without any problem “, confided the former presenter of the TF1 news of 13h, who chose to talk about his disease to do prevention.

Suffered from prostate cancer in 2018 and then from lung cancer which was treated this summer, before attacking the other lung, Jean-Pierre Pernaut underwent radiotherapy treatment to heal his tumor. “The treatment is finished, I’m waiting for the results. I listened to Johnny during the sessions. We don’t feel anything but we are very tired afterwards. And I sleep a lot today!”, he explained to his friends. Despite the fatigue, Jean-Pierre Pernaut does not give up and remains optimistic thanks to the advice of his wife: “There are more and more people surviving, there are good machines … You have to keep fishing, Nathalie tells me to do it, it worked for her during her leukemia so I’m trying.”

Jean-Pierre Pernaut was to have the results of his radiotherapy sessions in December but he preferred not to tell him anything before January. The ex-JT star wants to go on vacation and not risk being ruined by bad news. Because at the end of this treatment, if the tumor is still present, he will have to follow other treatments.

The 71-year-old journalist has always been able to count on the support of his family. “I’m still scared but Nathalie and the children give me a lot of strength! We must not let go: we listen to the doctors and we believe in it!”

Jean-Pierre Pernaut will chair the jury of the Miss France 2022 competition which will be made up of Amel Bent, François Alu, Delphine Wespiser, Philippe Lacheau, Ahmed Sylla and Inès Reg.
