This Monday, May 20, Jean-Claude Gaudin, former mayor of Marseille, died. Jean-Pierre Foucault, his friend, pays tribute to him.
A 60 year old friend. This is how Jean-Pierre Foucault, host and presenter on TF1, describes Jean-Claude Gaudin, former mayor of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). The former councilor died this Monday, May 20. The two Marseilles, long-time friends, met when Jean-Claude Gaudin was Jean-Pierre Foucault’s history professor. Since then, they have not left each other. Until just 48 hours ago, when the two friends shared a dinner.
For Jean-Pierre Foucault, “Marseille lost a great man“. Became the youngest municipal councilor of Marseille, “his dream was to sit in Gaston Defferre’s seat, which he did, a few decades later.”, relates Jean-Pierre Foucault. “He will leave an indelible mark in Marseille”adds the presenter.
Jean-Pierre Gaudin, more of a footballer or footix? “It’s true that he didn’t understand anything.” concedes Jean-Pierre Foucault. But, “he saved Olympique de Marseille when we were in the second division”, he specifies. This Monday, May 20, the presenter salutes the memory of a friend: “we called each other, he told me the latest little gossip in political life (…) He always gave good advice.”
