Jean-Michel Descloux

Side flavor on Sunday welcomes a guest who necessarily has something to do with cooking, chef, craftsman, producer and a small challenge to take up, remember a significant year in his life, personal or professional. A choice that allows us to go back in time, to remember some events that marked that year. Without sinking into a deadly nostalgia, we take advantage of this pretext to talk about today.

Our guest this morning is Jean Michel Descloux, chef of the Atelier des Saveurs in Longueau

In 2000 Jean Michel Descloux decides to leave Paris to settle in Amiens. He opens the Relais des orfèvres which quickly becomes an essential table in Picardy

This year

It is the last year of the 20th century and the 2nd millennium, a leap year.

January 1st it is the successful transition of computer systems to the year 2000 in the world. Thanks to several years of work by computer scientists (Y2K project), the dating problems commonly known as the year 2000 bug were very limited during the first days of the year.

February 1st : the working week increases to 35 hours in companies with more than 20 employees.

This is also the year in which Concorde operations ceased after the sad accident in Gonesse.

That year at the cinema, Vatel was released with Gérard Depardieu in the title role. François Vatel, famous cook of King Louis 14, commits suicide during a banquet where the fish ran out.

It’s true cooking is stressful, when you have to deal with an oven that breaks down when serving, for example, you have to be good every day.

On the cinema side, it is also the year where Agnès Jaoui and Jean Pierre Bacri offer us “the taste of Others”

It’s true that you have to have the taste of others to serve customers every day and what a pleasure to see the smiles of those who enjoy themselves

In 2000 we listened

  • Indochine: I asked the moon
  • Florent Pagny: And one day a woman
  • The White Stipes: 7 nation army
  • Renaud Axelle Red Manhattan Kabul
  • Bernard Lavilliers: The Golden Hands
  • Manu Chao: Me gusta tu
  • Coldplay: Clocks

Jean Michel Descloux loves Florent Pagny, his voice and especially when he sings Châtelet Les halles, gives him the hair
