The former president of the National Front, Jean-Marie Le Pen, was released from the hospital where he had been admitted on Wednesday following a “mild form of stroke”, tweeted his adviser. Jean-Marie Le Pen, 93, was hospitalized as a precaution after suffering a transient ischemic attack (TIA) on Monday. The former politician had lost during “1 minute to 1 minute and a half the vision” during a dinner on Monday at his home in Hauts-de-Seine. A doctor friend had come to his house to examine him until his appointment on Wednesday evening, which followed an interview with AFP journalists during which the former political leader had shown no trouble.
The former far-right leader has been hospitalized several times in recent years. At the end of September 2018, he had been hospitalized for more than a week due to a “persistent fever”, but any risk of bacterial infection had been ruled out. In June of the same year, he had been hospitalized for ten days for a “dangerous pulmonary complication” of bacterial origin, after a first hospitalization for influenza contracted at the beginning of April.
