Jean-Marie Bigard and Jérémy Ferrari lonely!

The world of French humor is currently in mourning. We learn this Friday, June 2, 2023, the death of comedian Guillaume Bats at the age of 36. As announced by his production company, Dark Smile Productions, on Facebook, the man would have died this Thursday, June 1, 2023. “It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death this Thursday, June 1, of Guillaume Bats , our great friend and brother of heart and stage, the event being recent we do not yet have all the details relating to his funeral, and do not yet know the cause of this tragic event […] We do not have the words but a huge emptiness is already present in our hearts” can we indeed read.

Guillaume Bats had always been affected by brittle bone disease, a genetic syndrome characterized by bone fragility and low bone mass causing repeated fractures, occurring as a result of mild trauma. Having become a humorist, Guillaume Bats had chosen to laugh at his illness, always betting on self-mockery and had thus made his handicap a strength.

If he often evoked his illness with humor, he was also known to approach sensitive subjects always with a laugh, thus bringing his spectators to laugh at the most serious. A few days ago, Guillaume Bats was on tour throughout France to present his new show called “Inchallah”. A show co-written with his counterpart and long-time friend Jérémy Ferrari who must undoubtedly be devastated at the moment. We note that he was also very good friends with Eric Antoine and Jean-Marie Bigard, two great comedians with whom he has already shared the stage on several occasions and who must also be saddened by the terrible news.

Guillaume Bats abandoned by his mother and victim of school bullying
In 2019, Guillaume Bats confided in the columns of Here about his difficult childhood, he who was abandoned by his mother: “When I was born, I stayed less than a year with my mother. She did not assume, and I found myself in a nursery until the age of 4 years. Afterwards, I went to a center during the week and to a host family at the weekend. When I was 7, I stayed there full time, but two years later I had to leave.” he revealed. “At 11, I finally found myself living with a slightly older lady, who always believed in me. I consider his children as my uncles and auntshe confided. Very quickly, I became an integral part of their family and, today, they are all behind me. Unfortunately, this mother of heart died in 2010, she could not see me on stage, it is the great sadness of my life.”

The comedian also spoke about the harassment he suffered at school: “In primary and secondary school, it was complicated. There was a pack effect, I was targeted.“. Fortunately, the situation was sorted out in high school where he decided to take the lead by “going towards others” and starting to trivialize and laugh at his illness. What make him want to make it his job…
