The death of Jean-Marc Vallée has shaken many moviegoers. Tributes to the career and work of the Quebec director are pouring in on social networks.

American actress Shailene Woodley, whom Jean-Marc Vallée directed in the series Big Little Lies was one of the first to react. In three “strories” posted on her Instagram account, the actress claims to be in shock.
“I am in shock. Completely in shock. My god, death is horrible, ”she wrote on a photo of a man from behind, who we assume to be Jean-Marc Vallée, cooking.

“But I know that, one way or another, you will make this a great adventure … One that will stay in the anal”, she writes in another “story”, posting the same photo.

In Quebec, several personalities have also expressed their sadness.
Singer Vincent Vallières posted on Instagram a photo of the director accompanied by a touching caption.
“It leaves an indelible mark in the history of cinema and television”, he writes in particular.
Comedian Adib Alkhalidey said he was heartbroken at the director’s death.
Journalist and columnist Herby Moreau was also saddened by the death of Jean-Marc Vallée.
He paid tribute to him in an Instagram publication, in addition to publishing many “stories” of the director, including some extracts from interviews conducted by Mr. Moreau.
Host Annie-Soleil Proteau also published an Instagram story on Jean-Marc Vallée.

Some politicians also wanted to underline the contribution of Jean-Marc Vallée in the world of cinema.
This is the case of the member of the Parti Québécois, Pascal Bérubé, who spoke on Twitter.

Liberal MP Christine Saint-Pierre, official opposition spokesperson for culture and communications, maintains that the death of Jean-Marc Vallée is a “huge loss”.
The Toronto International Film Festival also paid tribute to the Québécois.
“He is the only director to have opened (with Demolition) and closed (Victoria, the young years of a queen) the Toronto International Film Festival,” we wrote on Twitter.
