In fact, Donna had her front leg amputated in the summer of 2021. A major procedure that most dogs usually recover from very quickly. They can even later resume a completely normal life without suffering. Donna has proven it since in addition to finding a life that could not be more normal, she has become the new star of the detective series Leo Mattei. “At the beginning of summer, Donna had cancer. The vet said she was doomed but we met people to give her a second chance. She had to be amputated at the beginning of July and, as she seemed to be fighting well, she was brought to Marseilles and we changed everything so that she had her place in the series“, explained his master during an interview for Pocket TV published on February 14, 2022.
Jean-Luc Reichmann later provided some details to our colleagues from Entertainment TV : “We found it to be a very interesting vector, unifying and listening also for children.” This opportunity to let his dog play was also a real pleasure for the animator of the 12 noon shots who considers him a full member of his clan. “He is the seventh child in the family. He is doing very well. And we are also very, very proud to have inserted it“, he rejoiced. What’s more, Donna seems to have deserved her place in the casting since she has proven to be an impeccable playing partner. Jean-Luc Reichmann has indeed reported that the animal had precisely moved its ear during one scene without any issues.”I did not put a thread to pull his ear!“, promised the companion of Nathalie.
