The candidate of rebellious France in the next presidential election, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, filed a complaint against X on Monday November 15 for “death threats” and “incitement to commit unsuccessful offenses”, learned franceinfo from his lawyer Arié Alimi, confirming information from StreetPress.

The MP filed the complaint after the post, on the far-right Telegram channel “The Villains Fachos 2.0” on November 5, nine portraits, including that of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, all with a gun sight on the forehead. Also identifiable are LFI deputy Danièle Obono, journalists from Media Taha Bouhafs and StreetPress Mathieu Molard, a caricature of a black person and a caricature of a Jewish person, as well as the Jewish deportee during World War II Anne Frank. The deputy Danièle Obono, as well as the journalist Taha Bouhafs also filed a complaint.

These portraits are accompanied by a call to “aim at the target with darts”, even if “some may be tempted to use firearms on these targets”, before concluding : “Remember to support the Z”, referring to the probable candidacy of Eric Zemmour in the next presidential election. This Telegram loop “The Villains Fachos 2.0” had already been the subject of a report last September 28 by the League of Human Rights to the public prosecutor of Paris. This Monday, November 15 afternoon, a report for “provocation to commit a crime” was filed with the public prosecutor of Paris by the lawyer of StreetPress journalist Mathieu Moulard, confirms to franceinfo his lawyer Me Valentine Rebérioux.

“These racist threats from the far right are increasingly worrying”, reacts with franceinfo the lawyer of Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Taha Bouhafs Arié Alimi. “What is also worrying is the inaction of the prosecution and the interior ministry in these physical and racist threats. The lack of reaction always favors the passage to the act”, he concludes.
