Jean-Jacques Goldman: This little whim that thwarted the plans of another singer…

Jean-Jacques Goldman, capable of making low blows? Hard to believe as the one who has been squatting for years on the podium of the favorite personalities of the French enjoys extraordinary popularity both with the general public and with his colleagues in show business; his absence from Les Enfoirés continues to be greatly regretted. But, according to François Feldman, his colleague is capable of a few prohibitions…

Guest of the show Telematin Wednesday, April 6, François Feldman came to promote his new title entitled She sings, on which he finds his great accomplice, the singer Joniece Jamison. Together, they were a hit in 1989 with the tube Dont play and intend to steer the charts a new time. Moreover, this musical parenthesis must do the greatest good for the 65-year-old American, recently bereaved by the death of her husband…

On the set, François Feldman (63) recounted the backstage of his meeting with his comrade and this notably involves Jean-Jacques Goldman. “I did the duet on Dont play with Carole Fredericks, she had come to do the voice on the model. And then afterwards, she said to me: ‘Good listen, I’m going to tell you a secret, with Jean-Jacques Goldman, we’re going to release an album which will be called Fredericks Goldman Jones [avec les chansons Né en 17 à Leidenstadt et À nos actes manqués, écoulé à 1,3 million d’exemplaires, NDLR]in September… And he doesn’t want me to duet“, he first contextualized.

Embarrassed at having to abandon the project, Carole Fredericks – who died in 2001 – then found a plan B after talking with Jean-Jacques Goldman, who also found that Dont play was a song”not bad“. François Feldman adds: “She said to me: ‘I have a girlfriend, Joniece Jamison, she’s on the tour, she’s doing all the stadiums… She’s coming from London, so if you want… Besides, she’s prettier than me, she sings better than me…“Fortunately, the chemistry between the two will take quickly and the song will rank high – up to 2nd place – in the Top 50, to the point of staying there for no less than 22 weeks!

It’s hard to blame Jean-Jacques Goldman on this one… his album was almost ready, in the greatest secrecy as usual, so he didn’t want Carole Fredericks to sing elsewhere…
