Jean-François Rivest confirmed at the head of I Musici

With the release of the season marking its 40e anniversary, this Wednesday, I Musici announced the appointment of Jean-François Rivest as conductor and artistic director for the next four years. He will therefore remain in office until 2027.

At the departure of Jean-Marie Zeitouni, Jean-François Rivest had been appointed, in December 2020, to ensure a form of interim in order to maintain the artistic quality of the group, but had obtained from the administration to be able to apply himself to succession. So that’s what’s happening today. The appointment makes sense, since since his arrival, the chemistry has worked very well between the chef and the musicians.

For the season of 40e anniversary, I Musici maintains the Salle Pierre-Mercure of the Center-Pierre Péladeau as its concert venue and will notably receive Marie-Nicole Lemieux, the cellists Stéphane Tétreault and Bryan Cheng, and Kim Thuy, who will unite his literary universe with his favorites musical. Alain Lefèvre will open the season with the 27e Concerto of Mozart.

We will note with joy the return to Montreal, on October 12, in a South American program, of Colombian conductor Lina Gonzales-Granados, who has made a dazzling impression at the head of the Orchester Métropolitain this season.
