Jean Dujardin violently criticized after “Brice de Nice”, this important role played by Benoît Poelvoorde in this difficult moment

He’s come a long way since 2005 and the release of his movie “low budget”: “Brice de Nice”. A comedy in which Jean Dujardin plays a failed surfer who waits indefinitely for “his wave”. If the film was a huge success, the ex of Alexandra Lamy still had to face many criticisms as he remembered on the set of “C to You” on March 20, 2023.

A sequence that viewers were able to discover again this Monday, May 1 in a compilation of the best moments of the last few weeks of the daily. During his visit, the Oscar-winning actor in February 2012 for his role in the film by Michel Hazanavicius, “The Artist”returned to these criticisms but also to the unexpected success of his project.

“The ‘broken’ took a lot of space, it became a kind of schoolyard thing and a big hit that totally overwhelmed me”remembered Jean Dujardin before specifying: “But at the start, it’s a little neurotic film, a character in a closed circuit, who waits for a wave where there is none. It’s a fairly romantic character”.

Jean Dujardin, supported by Benoît Poelvoorde after “Brice de Nice”

Despite the success, the character of “Brice of Nice” would not have been understood in the right way. “I thought we would understand it like that and then, sometimes, you can’t control everything, but so much the better, it became my rabbit’s foot. It allowed me to move forward in this profession. So thanks to that stupid blonde!”quipped the companion of Nathalie Péchalat before noting: “It was not won. You come out of Brice de Nice, it’s not chic. The slope was steep”.

Fortunately, a colleague brought him enormous unexpected support: Benoît Poelvoorde. “He said, ‘put on a wig for an hour and a half and play, you’ll see!’ It’s true that it did me good that he said it, there were few”, he remembered, still grateful for the speech of the Belgian actor.
