Elisabeth Borne announced the name of her new chief of staff on Monday July 17 in a brief message to her team: “I am announcing the arrival of Jean-Denis Combrexelle, who succeeds Aurélien [Rousseau] counting from today.” The Prime Minister will now rely on this specialist in the Labor Code, aged 69, who for a year had been in charge of the cabinet of the Keeper of the Seals, Eric Dupond-Moretti.
His predecessor, Aurélien Rousseau, leaves his post after a year at Matignon. A delayed departure since he was first announced leaving on July 1, which had fueled speculation about a possible reshuffle. The 40-year-old bid farewell on Twitter : “I am leaving Matignon, a magnificent house, heart of the State and ‘terminus of trouble’. Proud to have led a very fine team and to have accompanied the Prime Minister in one of those moments when democracy needs the strength of the republican state”he wrote.
