Jean Castex, last steps at Matignon

Since July 3, 2020, the native of Pyrénées-Orientales Jean Castex has held the post of Prime Minister, which he will leave at the beginning of next week. Unknown to the general public at the start, he was able to fight against the Covid crisis while returning a sympathetic image. The French were used to seeing him announce various measures to fight the pandemic during his press conferences.

Jean Castex sometimes made people laugh, such as when he claimed not to have installed the Stop Covid application or when he got his mask tangled up in his glasses during his speeches. However, he is also remembered for some of his tantrums, including one in the National Assembly, during which he raised his voice in the face of opposition. The former mayor of Prades (Eastern Pyrenees)where he is unanimous, had remained in the shadow of Xavier Bertrand and Nicolas Sarkozy in his early days, before being appointed to Matignon.
