Former Prime Minister Jean Castex has been officially appointed chairman of the board of directors of the Agence des infrastructures de France (Afit), according to a decree published this Thursday, August 18 in the Official Journal.

Jean Castex, Prime Minister between July 2020 and May 2022, is the new chairman of the board of directors of the Agence des infrastructures de France (Afit). The decree of was published Thursday, August 18 at Official newspaper. He succeeds Christophe Béchu, who joined the government of Elisabeth Borne in July as Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion. The formalization of this appointment comes the day after that of Emmanuelle Wargon as President of the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE).

Afit France is a national public institution whose mission is to participate in the financing of major transport and mobility infrastructure projects, in compliance with the objectives of sustainable development and according to government guidelines.
Strongly approached for this position, Jean Castex had been auditioned at the end of July at the National Assembly to present his action plan. He then recognized the need to invest massively in rail to decarbonize transport, without forgetting the road, essential to “open up the territories”.
