“Jayden, it was their life”: the two snowmobilers who died in Lanaudière were devoted parents to their only son

The two parents who died in a snowmobile accident in Lanaudière last weekend were appreciated by those around them and devoted to the sporting community of their only 9-year-old son.

“Jayden was their life. It was a happy and fulfilled family. It doesn’t make sense,” says Karianne Massicotte on the other end of the line.

Last Sunday, the 31-year-old woman not only lost her older brother, Christopher Massicotte, in a snowmobile accident.

In addition to her 35-year-old brother, her sister-in-law Roxanne Morin, 34, died.

Beast accident

Around 6:30 p.m., the snowmobilers who were sitting one behind the other were hit head-on by a motorist on Route 125, in Saint-Esprit.

“The couple were part of a group of four who followed each other online. The first two snowmobiles managed to cross a road by leaving a trail, but not the third,” explained Newspaper the coroner Me Alain Manseau, at the start of the week.

The latter is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances of the collision. Nothing leads the authorities to believe that there was a criminal act.

The death of the thirty-year-olds was noted in the evening.

“It was a stupid accident. No alcohol, no speed. The car hit the back of the ski Doo», says Mme Massicotte, who has no further details.

According to her, her brother was not just starting out, but was far from being an expert in snowmobiling.

His home

Since then, the couple’s devastated entourage has done everything in their power to support the young orphan after the impact of the devastating news.

“He is in a lot of pain, but doesn’t quite realize it. He will realize it a little more every day, with the routine,” breathes the one who devotes a lot of time to Jayden, but who is already the mother of three children.

Well surrounded by members of both families, the little one will always reside in his family home, in the company of his paternal grandmother.

“His parents’ only wish was for Jayden to stay in their house, to keep his hockey team, his friends and his school,” says Mme Massicotte.

Together for 11 years, the newlyweds lived in Saint-Lin-Laurentides, where they built their house. Mr. Massicotte also worked in the construction field.

“It was a leader, a ray of sunshine, describes her younger sister. He encouraged everyone.”

“I don’t know anyone who didn’t love them,” she continues, full of praise for the lovers. They have big hearts.”

Involved

The enthusiasts were also well involved in their child’s sports community.

“They were very dedicated to young hockey players. Christopher was coach of Jayden’s team,” explains Karianne Massicotte.

Moreover, the Saint-Lin Minor Hockey Association published a tribute to the deceased on its Facebook page, to highlight their commitment.

A crowdfunding campaign was also launched to allow little Jayden to pursue his passions without financial worries.

“It’s to help the little one, so that he can continue playing hockey. He does camps and everything. It’s expensive. We don’t want him to lose his way of life,” concludes his aunt.
