Former Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated on Friday, July 8 in the morning, while he was holding a political meeting for the senatoriales. The 67-year-old had ruled Japan for almost a decade. The suspect, a former soldier, was immediately arrested.
Friday, July 8, it is 11:30 a.m. when the former Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, holds a speech during a campaign rally in Nara (Japan). Two shots then ring out. Immediately, the security forces throw themselves on the shooter, and tackle him to the ground. On the pavement lies the weapon, of homemade manufacture. The 67-year-old former prime minister was shot in the neck and chest. He was immediately transferred to Nara hospital, but already showed no signs of life.
Japan is appalled, and the condemnations are unanimous. “It is a barbaric act, in the middle of an electoral campaign, the basis of democracy. It is unforgivable and we condemn with the strongest words“, said Fumio Kishidathe new Japanese Prime Minister. The alleged perpetrator is a 41-year-old former soldier. Once arrested, he said he did not like the politics of Shinzo Abbe. He had the record longevity in power in Japan: from 2012 to 2020. He then resigned for health reasons. Pa divisive personality, he was a fierce supporter of the multilateral order.
