Two more tickets for the World Cup in Qatar have been donated. Japan qualified by beating Australia (2-0) in Sydney on Thursday 24 March. The victory was sealed by a double at the very end of the match from Union Saint-Gilloise striker Kaoru Mitoma (89th and 94th). The Japanese will thus participate in their seventh consecutive edition of the flagship competition of world football.

With this Australian defeat, Saudi Arabia benefits, even before his match against China. She validates, with the second place in her group, her ticket for the Qatar and the next world. Australia, on the other hand, is not yet eliminated, but will have to go through at least two rounds of play-offs to preserve a chance of being in the game.

There are now seventeen teams qualified for the World Cup, the kick-off of which is scheduled for November 21 and the final on December 18. Fifteen places remain to be allocated for the last teams in the running, including three for the European zone, in the play-offs from Thursday evening with Italy and Portugal in the running.
