This transaction was part of the commitments made by Alstom to the European Commission to obtain the green light for the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation, finalized in January 2021.

“Thanks to this takeover, Hitachi Rail now holds part of the intellectual property as well as responsibility for all high-speed train maintenance contracts” V300 Zefiro, now renamed ETR 1000, specified the Japanese manufacturer.

This type of train is operated by the Italian company Trenitalia and has been ordered by its Spanish subsidiary Ilsa. It is notably in service on the Paris-Lyon-Turin-Milan line.

No financial details were disclosed.

Alstom must also sell to the Spanish group CAF its Alsatian factory in Reichshoffen, as well as its Coradia Polyvalent platforms (a TER model called Régiolis by the SNCF) and Talent 3 (a regional train currently being developed in Hennigsdorf, near Berlin in Germany).
