Do you miss James Bond? Wondering when he will come back from the dead? Not tomorrow the day before, if we are to believe franchise producer Barbara Broccoli. “The road is still long“before the character of 007 was”reinvented for the next chapter“, she declared in an interview with Guardian. Fact, “the character modernization process has not yet started“, she specifies to the British daily.

Mandatory character upgrade

Two years already since Daniel Craig put away his tuxedo and put away his revolver after Dying can wait, his fifth and final film as Agent 007, and fans are already dying to know who will play the next James Bond. They will have to wait. Because the studios plan to take their time.
According to Barbara Broccoli, the next film must reflect the way the world has changed because “these films are a reflection of their time“But times are changing at great speed these days, from the collapse of biodiversity to disrupted global geopolitics, and the silver screen’s most famous spy will have to evolve in unison.

“HAS the time of Golden Eye, everyone was saying, ‘The Cold War is over, the wall has fallen, Bond is dead, there’s no need for him anymore because the world is at peace and there are no more bad guys. But we couldn’t be more wrong“, she recalls, adding that the modernization of the character is a necessity since a new actor plays the best agent of Her Majesty’s secret service.

A series on 007, only one

She spoke in the Guardian about the new adventure series James Bond 007 Road to a Million scheduled for Amazon Prime in early November, which she sees as “good entertainment”. However, there is no question of multiplying spin-offs and other series around Agent 007: the primary objective for it remains to make cinema films, not television. “When we make a film, it takes all of our attention for three or four years, so that’s our main priority“.
