(Eeyou Istchee Baie-James) A person lost his life during a snowmobile ride late Saturday evening in Baie-James, in Northern Quebec.
Two passengers were on the snowmobile when it swerved near Route des Conquerants. The police were notified around 11:30 p.m.
“A 19-year-old man unfortunately lost his life,” confirmed Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Another person, whose age has not been specified, was injured, but his life is not feared.
An investigation by the Sûreté du Québec is underway. This will have to determine in particular who was behind the wheel of the snowmobile.
“A police officer specializing in collision investigations is on site and is trying to shed light with an investigator on the causes and circumstances of the event,” said Sergeant St-Pierre.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
