Jamel Debbouze criticized because of the first name of his children: no “betrayal” but a pride!

Star of humor adored by the French, Jamel Debbouze founded with the journalist and producer Mélissa Theuriau a family of which he is infinitely proud. Indeed, the couple, married since 2008, became parents successively to Léon, 13 and a half years old, and Lila, soon to be 11 years old. In an excerpt unveiled before the broadcast of the portrait in Sept à Huit on TF1 this July 3, 2022, the artist returned in particular to the choice of the first names of his offspring, answering in all sincerity to questions from Audrey Crespo-Mara.

Choosing the first name of his children, an arduous task to which Jamel Debbouze and Mélissa Theuriau have tackled twice, for their eldest Léon, Ali and for the second, Lila, Fatima, Brigitte. The comedian specifies that the two other names of his daughter are those of his mother and his mother-in-law. A choice that was welcomed with happiness, even if others did not hide their dissatisfaction. Indeed, the journalist recalls that some have criticized him, considering him a “treason“.

To these looks at his personal choices as a dad, Jamel Debbouze responds despite everything with the greatest benevolence and caution: “I understand that public opinion has its opinion, and that it says what it wants, when it wants, when it has to say it. Afterwards, when others trade in it to divide us or to pit us against each other, it’s ridiculous, I don’t get into that at all. What I’ve done through this is just love my wife and create a family. I was born in France, I’m French and that’s the result of all that.
